Judged by the New York Times as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world.

It is located next to Gialova lagoon, only 10 km north of Pylos and protected by Νatura 2000.
From Villa FINIKI you go right onto the coastal road and drive towards Methoni. At Methoni you drive to Pylos, Pylos and then follow the signs Gialova. After a few kilometers you come across small signs with Voidokiliá.

Follow these signs and while driving through various olive groves, you come to a small supermarket (buy fresh water here). Turn left here and continue on the road. This road is unpaved and takes you after a few minutes to probably the most famous beach in the region of Messinia.

Voidokilia beach is characterized by a unique natural beauty and the shape reminds the Greek letter omega (Ω).
In August it can be quite busy (by the way, not by Dutch standards). Something out of season, the chances are that you are alone here. It has been rated by the New York Times as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world.

Walk for a beautiful view to the Paleokastro and do not forget Nestor Cave.

The bird-rich Gialova lagoon is located directly behind the dunes.
The Gialova lagoon is a beautiful inland lake and a favorite destination for birds on their way to Africa. In winter you can usually see flamingos here. Staff and volunteers from the visitors center, located in the old pumping station, are happy to lead you around. There are also different routes to explore the area around the lake on your own.
