The journey

The archeological Delfi (Delphi) is located in Central Greece, 170 km from Athens. This sanctuary and the oracle of the God of light Apollo was regarded by the classics as the “navel of the earth”.

Delfi was the largest religious and spiritual center of ancient Greece, with a fame and an authority that radiated throughout the Mediterranean.
Apollo, the son of Zeus, has really chosen an impressive place; the sanctuary of Apollo is tarmaced against a slope, at the foot of the Panassos. Its location, against the Fedriaden Rocks, the high rock wall that rises almost perpendicular to the background with the Gulf of Itea in the background, is breathtaking. From the flank of the Parnassos you have a magnificent panorama over the valley with on the horizon the Corinthian wave.

Delfi; the geographical center of the earth
According to tradition, the two eagles that Zeus had sent out from the farthest corners of the universe arrived at the same time, so they determined the center of the world. On the basis of this myth, the Greeks believed that the navel stone of Delfi was the geographical center of the earth, emphasizing the importance attached to this place.
