While walking you will experience the Peloponnese very intense and at your own pace.
καλωσόρισμα
Welcome
While hiking you experience the surroundings intensely;
you see more, hear more, smell more, experience more and above all; you enjoy more.
At your own pace you walk around mountain forests, on goat paths and meadows, along rivers and waterfalls You walk along the beach, through gorges and past monasteries and local culture.
You rest in valleys and in authentic villages, you meet friendly farmers and shepherds, people picking herbs in the wild and of course nice fellow hikers.
The Greek people are hospitable and interested. They will always greet you and ask where you come from, where you are going, and if they can help you.
Every season has its charm!
The flowery spring is of course ideal; it is not too hot and nature is at its best. Do you know why poppies are standing a long way? To applaud when you walk past.
In the summer it can be very hot, but an early-bird walk or an evening walk (especially with full moon) is an experience in itself. An early morning walk is a blessing for the all day. In the afternoon you will find cooling in the delicious sea water or on a shady terrace.
In the autumn it can still be wonderful and you can see the activity around the olive harvest. A good autumn wind blows your thoughts in a row.
In the winter it is wonderfully cool and quiet and afterwards you can enjoy your meze with at wood stove.
The Peloponnese is the most famous part of the mainland
The sun worshipers are mainly found on the many Greek islands, but the true nature lover goes for a holiday on the Peloponnese.
Nature, culture and authentic Greece are everywhere represented here; Olympia, channel of Corinth, Epidavros, Sparta-Mystras, Mycenae, Messini, …
In addition, there are many hiking opportunities; the long-distance path E4 runs over it, the Taygetos mountain range (highest point 2040 meters) and the Mani peninsula offer many marked and described hiking trails.
You would expect that the Peloponnese has more to offer walking and cycling opportunities, but that is not so. Everywhere short and circular walks have been set out, usually the initiative of private individuals. The quality of the routes and the markings is very variable.
Messinia is one of the seven departments of the Peloponnese and is located in the southwest of Peloponnese on the Ionian Sea.
Messinia is a very fertile region with a beautiful varied nature, historic sites, lots of running water and waterfalls, nice seaside resorts and beautiful traditional villages. In short; everything that makes a walker happy!
Come to get lost with me? I know the way …
It is wonderful to walk on the merry-go-round, discover new hiking trails. If you’ve lost your way, you’ll come somewhere new again. But not everyone has a good sense of direction and is therefore afraid to get lost. Or just want to know; how long is it and how long do I walk over it. Our experience is that you often go wrong with a printed route and see it too late. Nowadays everyone has a smartphone and therefore the possibility to walk with GPS without having to buy a GPS device. You have to get used to it but once you’re used to it, you do not want anything else.
