Parga is a picturesque, colorful and cozy town built around a beautiful bay.
Parga ligt als een amfitheater tegen een heuvel aan de noordwestkust van Griekenland aan de Ionische Zee.
Het Venetiaanse verleden van Parga is nog steeds zichtbaar aan de nauwe straatjes smalle trappetjes en hoge huizen met sierlijke balkonnetjes vol bloempotten en klimplanten. In het levendige badplaatsje meren “helaas” regelmatig (te veel) excursieboten aan en langs de havenkade liggen ontelbare terrassen en restaurantjes. In de smalle en gezellige straatjes is het leuk shoppen in de vele winkeltjes. ´s Avonds wordt er geflaneerd over de mooie brede boulevard.
In de zomermaanden is het er erg druk.
Igoumenitsa – Parga: 45 km

Deze werd later versterkt door de Venetianen en de Turken. Naast de kerk Ag. Apostoli in Parga, bevindt zich het kerkelijk museum. Hier zijn o.a. waardevolle iconen, een bijbel van Venetiaans zilverwerk en de meer dan 300 jaar oude stadsvlag van Parga te zien.
Een heel bekend plaatje van Parga is Panagia,
het kleine eilandje voor de kust met het witte kerkje. Het is bereikbaar via een keienpaadje.
Tijdens de zomermaanden vinden er in Parga verschillende culturele activiteiten plaats.
In Parga en omgeving liggen verschillende stranden met watersportmogelijkheden.
Overal zijn ligbedden en parasols te huur.
Bekende stranden zijn:
Krioneri; een ongeveer 200 m lang gemengd strand met zand en kiezel
Alexandra; een ongeveer 80 m lang kiezelstrand met keien
Valtos; het bekende 950 m lange strand met zand, keien, kiezels en fijn grind.
Lichnos; een ander geliefd strand is.
Er varen kleine (taxi) bootjes naar de diverse stranden in de omgeving.
Ook voor wandelaars en fietsers is Parga aantrekkelijk.
Tocht naar het 2 km noordwestelijk gelegen dorpje Anthousa, boven het kasteel van Ali Pasja met de gezellige Plateia.
In Anthousa is een watermolen met museum te zien en in het museum wordt een interessante uitleg gegeven over het vroegere gebruik van de watermolen.
Vanuit Parga rijdt er in de zomermaanden een toeristisch treintje naar het kasteel en Anthousa is ook bereikbaar via een wandelpad vanaf het Valtos strand.
Tip: met treintje heen, te voet terug (dan passeer je ook de waterval).
Ook een aanrader is het 5 km van Parga gelegen Agia Kyriaki met mooie stranden.

Walk to the 2 km northwestern village of Anthousa, above the castle of Ali Pasha with the cozy Plateia.
In Anthousa there is a watermill with a museum and an interesting explanation about the former use of the water mill is given in the museum.
From Parga there is a tourist train to the castle in the summer months and Anthousa is also accessible via a walking path from the Valtos beach.
Tip: with train, back on foot (then you also pass the waterfall)
